The standard is maintained not by the trophies on the shelf but by the protocols in the laboratory, the quality of the materials, and the relentless self-criticism that drives every case.
What matters to our patients is not a certificate, but what stands behind the work: a material system that behaves differently from standard porcelain, a fabrication technique that prioritises biology over speed, and a clinical approach that refuses to deliver a result we are not entirely satisfied with.
When we document a case, we photograph the work as it was delivered - not retouched photographs or carefully selected angles. We photograph under multiple lighting conditions, with close-up detail that shows surface texture, translucency, and colour depth. A qualified reviewer can see immediately whether the work is hand-layered or pressed, whether the translucency is genuine or painted, whether the characterisation is artistic or formulaic.
This level of scrutiny is uncomfortable. It requires vulnerability. It requires showing your work to people who are qualified to find its flaws. But it is the only kind of recognition worth having - because it comes from people who would know if it was not deserved.
For patients, the practical implication is this: ask about the awards. Not just whether a clinic has them, but what kind. Who judged? What criteria? What was being evaluated? A genuine clinical award from a respected body means something very different from a 'Best Dental Clinic' certificate purchased from a lifestyle magazine.
