Veneers cover the front face of a tooth and require minimal preparation. Crowns cover the entire tooth and require significantly more reduction. Crowns are indicated for teeth with extensive structural damage, after root canal treatment, or with very large fillings. Veneers are indicated for cosmetic improvement on otherwise sound teeth. Should I do Invisalign first, or go straight to veneers?
If alignment is the underlying issue, fix the alignment first — even if you came in asking for veneers. Veneers on misaligned teeth means more aggressive prep and a compromised result.
